The garden club plant sale is scheduled for May 5 in Murraysville

The Murrysville Garden Club will hold its annual plant sale from noon until the full sale on May 5th.

The sale will take place at Murrysville VFC No. 1 Pavilion, 3235 Sardis Road in Murrysville. The club will sell annual and perennial flowers, hanging baskets, patio pots and gardening supplies.

Proceeds will go to the club’s scholarship program.

The club meets the first Thursday of the month, March through November, at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 5330 Logan Ferry Road in Murrysville.

AMVETS blood drive set for April 16

The White Valley AMVETS Post 85 will be holding a blood drive on April 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the post, 2100 Carolina St. in Murrysville.

Appointments are recommended by calling 412-209-7000, but walk-ins are welcome.

The ‘We Are FR’ scholarship fund is accepting applications

The “We are FR” scholarship fund is accepting applications for the 2022 scholarships.

Created through the Community Foundation of Westmoreland County, a component of the Pittsburgh Foundation, the scholarships average $1,500 and are available to Franklin-area seniors who demonstrate financial need, who have a 2.5 grade point average, plan to participate in two or four years of college education and demonstrate a commitment to the community.

Upcoming Events at the Delmont Library

• The Friends of the Delmont Library will be hosting a Spring Tea from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, April 23, at Saint-Jean-Baptiste de La Salle Church in Delmont.

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the library, 75 School St.

The church is at 497 Athena Drive.

• The library will have a craft booth for children during the Easter Egg Hunt at noon on April 16 at Newhouse Park, near Stotler Drive.

• The Delmont Diggers Group will prepare their landscaped areas and gardens for planting from 10 am to 1 pm April 30 at the library. Volunteers are asked to bring rakes and gloves to pull weeds.

• The library will be closed on April 16 and 18 for the Easter holidays.

“Musical World of Disney” concerts planned

The Masterworks Concert Chorale will perform “The Musical World of Disney” in two concerts: April 30 at 7 p.m. at Level Green Presbyterian Church and May 1 at 2 p.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Murrysville.

The choir will perform songs from Disney classics including “Frozen”, “Aladdin”, “The Lion King”, “The Little Mermaid” and more.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students, and free for children 10 and under.

Level Green Presbyterian is at 105 Olive St. in Trafford, and Calvary Lutheran is at 4725 William Penn Highway in Murrysville.

A former investigator discusses true crime stories

The Murrysville Lions Club and the Murrysville Recreation Department will host guest speaker Dave Grace for a presentation on April 28.

Grace is a former US Department of Justice, Treasury, and State Department investigator, working primarily on bombing investigations. His case experience includes the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, the Unabomber case, the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Park bombing, etc. He has also provided technical advice on television and film productions.

The presentation will take place at 7 p.m. on April 28 at the Murrysville Community Center, 3091 Carson Avenue. There is no charge to attend and light refreshments will be available.

Trash cleanup in Delmont

The Delmont Visionary Committee will host a trash cleanup event on April 30 in the borough.

Volunteers will meet at the Rose Wigfield Parklet, 27 Greensburg St., at 9 a.m. to receive supplies and instruction, and meet at the park for a free lunch. Participants will receive a free t-shirt.
