VALATIE – The Seventh-day Adventist Church, 3266 Route 9, Valatie, will offer boxes of free food from its pantry once every three months. This year, these dates fall on the following Saturdays, August 21 and November 20. The drive-through pantry will be open from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on these dates and people will be served on a first-come, first-served basis. CHATHAM – Want to get your hands dirty to help the birds and butterflies? Come to Weed after work. Take care of a pollinator patch in the Greenport Conservation Area 5 to 7 p.m. The 14th of July. The Columbia Land Conservancy is hosting a volunteer labor party in the Greenport Conservation Area, 319 Joslen Blvd. in Greenport. Volunteers should bring gloves, a water bottle, and any favorite gardening tools such as pruners, knee pads or hoes. The SIC will provide snacks and drinks.

Participants will need to walk approximately 1/3 of a mile into the site on a paved path to access the pollinator planting area. The work will consist mainly of pulling weeds by hand. There is poison ivy on site. Places are limited and pre-registration is required. Visit for more information.

HUDSON – The UMW at Trinity United Methodist Church will be hosting a take-out-only chicken barbecue from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on July 15 at the church, 555 Joslen Blvd., Hudson. The cost is $ 12 and includes half a chicken, a baked potato, coleslaw, a bun and a homemade brownie; half a chicken only costs $ 7.50. For tickets and information, call 518-828-0226.

HILLSDALE – The Town of Hillsdale presents “Jams in the Hamlet” on the third Saturday of the month at Hillsdale Hamlet Park, at the corner of Highways 22 and 23. The Hudson Valley Jazz Quartet will perform from 5 pm to 7 pm on July 17th. Admission is free, donations are encouraged. The park will open at 4 p.m. Bring a lawn chair and blankets to sit on. Refreshments available for purchase will be provided by Hillsdale’s Roe Jan Brewery, Little Apple Cidery, Mama Lo’s BBQ and Bacon’s Pizza.

ANCRAM – St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1273 County Route 7, Ancram, the annual chicken barbecue will be held July 17 from 4:30 to 6 p.m., take-out only. The menu includes barbecue chicken, corn, coleslaw, potato salad, rolls and watermelon. The cost is $ 15. CLAVERACK – Everlasting Hope Animal Rescue, a non-profit organization located in Claverack, is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a noon to 4 p.m. fundraising event on July 17 at Claverack City Park. DJ Jack Bogarski will provide the music. Suzanne Bunney will be doing dog demonstrations and a CGC class demonstration. There will be food for sale, raffles, silent auction and 50-50. Admission is $ 10.

HUDSON – A community label sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 17 and 18 at Crosswinds on Harry Howard Avenue, next to the middle school. Rain date on July 24th and 25th.

CLAVERACK – Upstage Productions Inc. announces auditions for a fall production of “Matilda, The Musical”. Auditions for the November 19-21 production, Matilda, will be by appointment and run from 12:15 p.m. to 2 p.m. on July 17 and 31 at the Dutch Reformed Church in Claverack, 88 Route 9H, Claverack.

ALBANY – The German-American Albany Club, 32 Cherry St., Albany, will be hosting an Old Time Picnic on July 18. The grounds open at noon. Savor delicious German food, drinks and music. STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. – Berkshire Botanical Garden, 5 West Stockbridge Road, Stockbridge, Mass. presents Music Mondays – Berkshire Jazz Collective in concert from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on July 19. Every Monday, a group of the Berkshires or the greater Boston Zone will play in the gazebo among the topiaries of Lucy’s Garden, while guests stretch out on the shady lawns. COPAKE – The Roeliff Jansen Community Library Board of Directors will be meeting in person at 6:00 p.m. on July 20 in the Library Community Hall, 9091 Route 22, Copake. HUDSON – Columbia County Habitat for Humanity announces the first in-person event for 2021: an exclusive art gallery and silent auction showcasing the artwork of local painter Dorothea Masterson. The viewing and auction are open to everyone and will take place starting at 6 p.m. on July 23 at the ReStore, 829 Route 66, Hudson.

All proceeds will go to Habitat and the mission to create affordable housing for working families across Columbia County.
