NORTH JACKSON – Jeanette R. Hubbard, 85, died early Wednesday, September 15, 2021, surrounded by her family.

Jeanette, known as Jan, was born on November 16, 1935 in Sandusky, daughter of Harold and Doris Briggs Russell. She and her 60-year-old husband Howard N. Hubbard Jr. were married on August 25, 1956 in Lorain. In 1977, they moved with their four children to the Youngstown area.

She has always focused most of her efforts on her family, instilling a strong family dynamic that has fostered close family ties.

Outside of the family, she has been actively involved in volunteering within the community and in pursuing her various passions. Through her love for quilting, she joined several quilting groups in the area, including TQGIBT (That Quilt Group I Belong To).

She enjoyed spending hours in her home garden, as well as volunteering at Mill Creek Park Fellowship Gardens, earning a Master Gardener certificate.

For her love of animals, she volunteered with Angels for Animals and became a founding member of Buckeye Horse Park.

She also devoted much of her time to volunteering with Hospice of the Valley and with the 103rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry Company in Sheffield Lake.

She was predeceased by her husband, Howard, on May 27, 2016; and her sister, Tamara Fuller.

She is survived by her four children, Matt (Thérèse) Hubbard of Indianapolis, Ted (Wenman Li) Hubbard of Walnut Creek, Calif., Andrew Hubbard of Columbus and Jennifer (William) Milliner of North Jackson; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Michael (Lois) Russell of Lillian, Ala.

Please join the family on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at the farm where she lived, for a service to laugh, remember and celebrate her beautiful life, starting at 2:30 p.m., with a service starting at 3 p.m. Immediately after, the family invites everyone to come together to eat and share stories. The family asks everyone present to wear a mask to protect everyone’s safety.
