Ellen DeGeneres and Portia di Rossi’s recent real estate deals include the sale of the Montecito estate the couple bought from Dennis Miller in December 2020 – the estate entered the duo’s portfolio at $49 million and left at 55 million — and the $8.5 million purchase of the Rowan Residence, a notable 1964 modern build in Beverly Hills. They also bought up a lovely ranch in Montecito that they apparently just couldn’t let go; reuniting with their former real estate love required an outlay of $14.3 million.
The final page of the couple’s ongoing home-hunting, renovation and flipping adventures details another exiting property, according to Dirt: a 4,780-square-foot contemporary in Montecito, the couple’s favorite territory these days. The 2018-built contemporary features a mix of modern, Mediterranean and Japanese design elements, and carries a price tag of $13.9 million.
Details at work in the home include pivoting steel doors with sidelights, backlit vaulted ceilings, retractable glass walls and a barn door. The main living room is glazed on both sides, with access to the front and rear patios, and an accent wall that separates it from a secondary space currently intended for billiards.
The most interesting rooms include the kitchen, which features a particularly effective mix of flat black painted cabinets, walls and ceiling, as well as herringbone floors and an island finished with a visually appealing natural stone waterfall cap; the master bath also gets high marks, primarily for its marble tub/shower centerpiece, which is lit from above by an inset roof extension of clerestory windows. The specialty rooms include a spa.
Outdoor living areas include a fire pit, with a winding walking path through the property’s 0.72 acre meditative botanical garden and the aged olive trees that populate the grounds.
