The Bruins laid out their goaltending plans for a slight two-game week. Jeremy Swayman is set to be called up at home Thursday night against the Red Wings and Linus Ullmark is set to face the Maple Leafs in Toronto on Saturday.
The decision to turn to Swayman tomorrow night comes with a week between starts for the 22-year-old, and the Bruins are hoping a little home cooking can put Swayman back on the path to victory after two straight losses.
“[Swayman] just needs to play, âBruins head coach Bruce Cassidy said after Wednesday’s practice in Brighton. “And it can’t be every road game too, so let’s get it in the net [at TD Garden]. There are only two games this week.
âHe needs to play certain games to develop his endurance, certain game situations, a little confidence, all of those things. And I think Linus was in the same boat at first, now he’s played a bit more and you’re starting to see him come back.
And the Bruins aren’t too interested in holding Swayman’s last two performances – a 19 of 24 loss to Philly and a 21 of 23 loss to the Hurricanes – against him for a number of pretty obvious reasons.
