Botanical Garden Bar Norwich returns as The Rempotage Shed

The creators of Norwich’s popular Botanical Garden Bar are bringing it inside for the holiday season, with Christmas dinners featuring dishes from around the world.

Last summer, theater company Curious Directive launched an outdoor bar outside their home at St Simon and Jude Church in Elm Hill, serving local food and drinks.


Groups of 12-18 people will have the whole room to themselves while enjoying their feast.

He returned last Christmas and this summer by popular demand, with thousands in attendance, and he helped the company recover from the pandemic.

With Covid restrictions no longer in effect, he is going indoors for the 2021 holiday season and has been named The Potting Shed.

Jack Lowe, Artistic Director of Curious Directive, said: “At this time of year gardeners go indoors to repot stuff to get ready for winter and our indoor space will do that and invite people in. for festive dinners..

It will take place from Friday November 26 to Thursday December 23 and groups of 12 to 18 people can rent the entire space from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.

There are three four, five or six course options, called Mistletoe & Wine (£ 29.50pp), Holly & Ivy (£ 34pp), and Oh Tannenbaum (£ 49pp), respectively.

Along with the six-course meal, guests can also add a wine flight for £ 25 per person and other available drinks include mulled wine and cider and cranberry and Christmas tree gin.

The chef is Isaac Heffernan, with his wife Oliva the host, and the main course is the pheasant and Norfolk ham ballotine, pressed potato, caramelized carrot, lemon, sage and chestnut sprouts, purple broccoli, crisp bacon and parsnip purée and pinot noir juice.

There are dishes from all over the world including a Lutefisk, which is salt cod with birch and mead, from Norway and sandalwood and macadamia nut pie from Australia and there are vegan options. for each dish.

Mr Lowe added: “We build on the way people celebrate around the world and create a global Christmas dinner.

“There is nothing else like it in Norwich and there is so much innovation on the menu, just like with our theater as we push the boundaries as well.”
